Twin Cities Con Recap

November 20–22 | Minneapolis Convention Center

This weekend, thousands of fans of comics, movies, gaming, and pop culture packed into the Minneapolis Convention Center for Twin Cities Con, a three-day celebration of everything from superheroes to sci-fi. The annual event brings together celebrity guests, comic creators, vendors, and cosplayers from across the region for one of the largest pop-culture gatherings in Minnesota.

I spent time at the convention on Friday and Saturday, and as someone who had never attended a Comic Con before, the first thing that stood out was the scale of the event. The convention floor was massive, with hundreds of booths and artists filling the exhibit hall. Comic creators and illustrators showcased their work, sold prints, signed books, and talked with fans about their art and the characters that inspired them.

Another highlight was the cosplay. Everywhere you looked there were incredibly detailed character recreations from comics, movies, anime, and video games. Some costumes were simple and fun, while others looked like they stepped right out of a movie set. The best part was how enthusiastic everyone was—cosplayers were more than happy to pose for photos, turning the convention floor into a constantly changing parade of characters.

One entire end of the convention hall was dedicated to celebrity appearances, where fans lined up for autographs and photo opportunities with actors, voice actors, wrestlers, and other well-known personalities. These celebrity areas were tightly managed, however, and photography around the booths was understandably well guarded for press photographers.

What surprised me most was simply how many people were there. The aisles were constantly full, with fans browsing artist tables, picking up collectibles, and waiting in line to meet their favorite stars. Events like this regularly draw tens of thousands of attendees, turning the convention center into a massive gathering place for fandom and creativity.

For a first Comic Con experience, it was impressive to see just how large and passionate the community is. Between the artwork, the costumes, and the crowds of fans, it’s easy to see why events like this continue to grow every year.
